Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Local Self-Governments MB Rajesh has scheduled a meeting of employees unions on December 12 to discuss various issues pertaining to nomenclature change and pay scale upgradation of Local Self-Government Department (LSGD) Common Service.

The move comes as a section of employees expressed discrepancies over pay scale upgradation.

The nomenclature change as part of LSGD Common Service has increased basic pay in two posts by Rs 30,000, they claimed.

  • Deputy director of panchayat was changed to deputy director. The salary scale changed from Rs 63,700-Rs 1,23,7000 to Rs 95,600-Rs 1,53,200.
  • Municipal secretary(grade 1) was changed to deputy director. The salary scale changed from Rs 77,200-Rs 1,40,500 to Rs 95,600-Rs 1,53,200.
However in all other posts, there are only small changes. Employees in such posts are unhappy over the rationale of salary upgradation and they have been raising concerns.
