Chennithala added that there were huge lapses on the part of the Election Commission in conducting the polls adhering to COVID protocol.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala said that a pro-UDF wave was observed in the first phase of local body polls. A strong public feeling against the LDF government that is totally immersed in corruption reflected in the election. This will be repeated in the upcoming phases of elections too, he added.

People exercised their franchise energetically. They will never waste any opportunity to respond against the government’s misdeeds. This is clear from the huge participation of public in the election, he stated.

Chennithala added that there were huge lapses on the part of the Election Commission in conducting the polls adhering to COVID protocol. There was crowd at different polling centres when the officers arrived to receive the polling equipments. The Commission should arrange facilities to conduct polls following COVID protocol, he said.
