Ernakulam: PC Babu, the candidate from ward number 25 of Parappuram in Perumbavoor Municipality, shared his childhood memory of picketing the Taluk office with his mom, carrying a red flag.

"I always work in the dirt. Even my sweat is red in colour. I will do anything that the party tells me," said Babu.

Babu is a member of the firewood loading union (CITU) in Perumbavoor region. Babu was unable to continue his studies after pre-degree due to financial difficulties and became a loading worker at the age of 25.

Babu was an SFI member during his student days and then went on to become CPM Perumbavoor area committee member. He was the joint convenor of Literacy Mission in the 1990s.

Babu led the relief activities at Perumbavoor Girls High School during the first flood, even though his house was under water. He also led the 24-hour food stall that was opened for COVID patients in the area.

Babu said that working for the party is as valuable as his life. He was involved in loading works until the day he submitted his nomination. Now, he is busy with meeting voters in his constituency.
