Palakkad: The consumers can book Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders from any agency from now on. A special platform will be jointly introduced by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL).
The new system was designed in order to allow the consumers to book gas cylinders from the nearby agencies instead of waiting for the agency from where they took gas connection. The booking rules will be changed for implementing the new system. The government and the oil companies had considered to speed up the procedures to book cooking gas cylinders. Following this, they initiated action to change the booking laws.
Some changes were already introduced in the booking of cylinders from November 1, 2020. As part of this, the booking of cooking gas was based on OTP. Though the oil companies claimed that this facility made booking procedures more efficient, the petroleum ministry continued to receive complaints regarding cooking gas supply.
Following this, the idea of booking cooking gas from any agency was suggested in a meeting held by petroleum secretary and oil company representatives, the IOC sources said. They added that the ministry initiated procedures to change the booking rules.
