Nedumangad: The first bottled water project of Water Authority ‘Thelineer’ will reach the markets in August. The cost of the bottled water has not been decided yet, but will be priced below the market rates.
The project entrusted to the Aruvikkara Water Authority will produce around 1.5 lakh bottles daily.
Production and distribution will begin from August. 1.8 lakh litre water is expected to be distributed daily. 1.15 lakh bottles of 1 litre, 1600 bottles of 2 litre, 16,456 bottles of 500 ml and 2,720 bottles of 20 litre will be manufactured daily.
The approval of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Food Safety authority are awaited.
Minister K Krishnankutty had informed the cabinet the other day that Rs 13.83 crore has been spent on the project till now.
According to the tender the contractor has to complete the project and take up the functioning and maintenance of the plant for three months.
Two plants that can fill 7200 bottles in one hour will function simultaneously and continuously for 8 hours. 58,000 bottles can be manufactured in a single shift. The plant has been set up near the Aruvikkara dam.
The water will be collected from Karamana river. The bottles are also manufactured here.
