Kochi: The City Police issued a look-out notice for actor-producer Vijay Babu, who is accused of sexual assault by an actress of a film he produced.

DCP UV Kuriakose had earlier said that the actor was on the run following the allegations, and two cases were booked against him. However, Vijay Babu claimed he is not absconding but is in Dubai.

Police have raided the Nakshatra hotel in Kadavanthra and also the apartment of the actor. It is learned that the police have recovered crucial evidence in the case. He will be arrested as soon as he returns. If he continue abroad for a long period, help of InterPol would be sought.

The actress had raised a serious sexual assault allegation against Vijay Babu, and to counter that, he revealed the actress’s name and said in a Facebook live that he was the ‘real victim.’ The alleged crime happened between March 13 to April 14.

The survivor filed complaint against Vijay Babu on April 22, alleging he had sexually assaulted her promising roles in his movies. According to the complainant, the director sexually assaulted her multiple times at a flat in Kochi.

However, the actor claimed that he was the victim in the case. He alleged that he had made no mistake, and therefore he is the victim. He also questioned why the name of the actress was not revealed despite his name being dragged in the incident.

In response to that, the actress posted a detailed note on the Facebook page ‘Women Against Sexual Harassment’ raising charges of forceful sex and rape.
