Kollam: Service of its lone vestibule bus is profitable, said KSRTC. The corporation runs ten trips of the vestibule bus on the Kundara-Chavara route in the district.
The 17-meter long bus that looks like two buses attached one after another has 60 seats in two rows.
The Kundara-Chavara route is normally busy. The vestibule was introduced due to the footfall. It was proven helpful during the private bus strike. KSRTC claimed that it could also save fuel while comparing the number of people it could transport on the bus.
The first trip from Kollam Depot to Chavara starts at 7.20 in the morning. Chavara to Kundara (8.10 am), Kundara to Kollam (5.50 pm) are some other trips.
This route recorded the biggest collection during the private bus strike. As it is a chain service, KSRTC officials said that it is still getting a good collection. The bus was brought to Kollam from the Vithura depot. Initially, the service was conducted at the Peroorkada depot. KSRTC currently has only one vestibule bus.
