Thiruvananthapuram: The Opposition walked out of the House as the Speaker denied permission for an adjournment motion moved by P T Thomas in connection with the case of fraud antique dealer Monson Mavunkal.

The state government did not act on the intelligence report against Monson, the Opposition alleged in the assembly.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan responded that the people know who all went to Monson for ‘wellness treatment’, poking fun at KPCC president K Sudhakaran.

Sudhakaran had said that he met Monson thinking he was an actual doctor.

While protecting Sudhakaran, Opposition Leader V D Satheesan said Pinarayi is attacking those who seek medical support. Controversies like this cannot deface K Sudhakaran, he said.

CM extended his support to former DGP Loknath Behra who had visited the ‘museum’ of Monson. “A complaint against Monson was lodged on September 6, 2021. After the visit of Behra and as per intelligence reports, police started to watch him closely and actions taken. He did not stay back for wellness treatment,” he said.

Satheesan said the government hid the Intelligence report and protected Monson’s illegal business.
