Lok Ayukta initiates probe against alleged irregularities at Medical Services Corporation

Thiruvananthapuram: Lok Ayukta initiated a preliminary inquest over the petition filed by Congress state secretary Veena S Nair alleging irregularities in buying PPE kits by Kerala Medical Services Corporation. The complaint has been lodged against 14 persons, including the former minister of health KK Shailaja.

Lok Ayukta Justice Cyriac Joseph and Upa Lok Ayukta Harun-Ul-Rashid decided to send notices to the health secretary, MD of Kerala Medical Services Corporation, former general manager, secretary of Industries Department and former MD of Kerala Medical Services Corporation, in relation to the case. The case will be considered again on April 7.

The petitioner accused that the PPE kits were bought for Rs 1,550 when it was available in the market for Rs 550. The petition also noted that the gloves were imported for a high price to the state and thermometers were bought at a rate three-fold to the market price.
