Lockdown: Woman delivers in ambulance as police turns vehicle around in Kasaragod
Kasaragod: A woman gave birth inside an ambulance on Friday after police stopped the vehicle that was heading for Mangaluru and forced the driver to return to Kasaragod.
The woman was identified as Gowri Devi, a native of Patna in Bihar, residing at Kunjathur in Kasaragod district. She was being taken to Mangaluru in an ambulance.
However, at Thalappady, police stopped the ambulance and forced the driver to head back to Kasaragod. On the way, Gowri Devi gave birth inside the ambulance near Manjeswaram.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic, the Prime Minister had announced a national 21-day lockdown with effect from midnight on March 24.
