Thiruvananthapuram: The state police chief Anil Kanth instructed all district police chiefs to ensure that Covid protocols are strictly followed as restrictions have been eased in the state for three days in view of Bakrid.
The maximum number of devotees allowed to enter the place of worship has been fixed at 40. The district police chiefs, sub-divisional police officers and the station house officers will contact the religious leaders and the community representatives to make sure that devotees are abiding to social distancing and other Covid protocols.
Instructions have been issued to give special attention to control crowds in shops and ensure social distancing. The possibilities of virus spread will be curbed in consultation with the representatives of traders. Special attention will be given to areas coming under C and D categories. Police will make public announcements to remind people to comply with the Covid guidelines. Social media and the help of voluntary organisations will be utilised to reach out to the public.
Beat patrol, mobile patrol and women's motorcycle patrol units will be vigilant on the roads. The entire police force will be deployed for this, informed the DGP.
