Thiruvananthapuram: Lockdown in Kerala may continue with relaxations. A decision on lockdown will be taken in the Covid evaluation meeting to be headed by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday. The present lockdown is till Wednesday and government may plan to lift it only in phases. More shops may be allowed to function and restrictions may be eased in almost all sectors.

As many have been predicting a third wave of the pandemic, there will be restriction in places where crowding of people is witnessed. It is learnt that the state is reported to be free of covid infection only when 75 percent of people have been vaccinated. At present, only 25 percent has been given the first dose. Vaccination was the best way to check the pandemic, the chief minister said.

There are also plans to develop a new system to oversee the infection spread in every local body till 75 percent of the people are fully vaccinated.
