Local body polls: Muslim League not to field candidates who were elected thrice before
Kozhikode: Muslim League leader and Malappuram MP P K Kunhalikutty stated that they will ally with parties outside the political front for local body polls. He added that they are holding discussions with organisations including Welfare Party.
"We cannot talk about a strictly-UDF political front when it comes to local body polls and may ally with socio-cultural organisations outside the UDF. We have not taken a final decision. All these have taken place earlier also," Kunhalikutty said.
Meanwhile, Muslim League issued a circular including the conditions to contest the local body polls. Those who have been elected as local body members thrice before will not be considered. There should be only one candidate from a house. 30 percent of the seats should be reserved for youngsters and new faces, it is suggested.
The party has decided to allow those who are currently members of local bodies to contest in the polls only after assessing their performance. Representatives of Youth League also have been included in the parliamentary board.
