Local body polls: BJP to make local allies with parties other than Cong, CPM, League
Pathanamthitta: In view of the upcoming local body elections, BJP is planning a strategy to ally with parties outside NDA on a local level. They are moving to make agreement withparti es in UDF and LDF in order to form local alliances. However, no agreements or official discussions will be held in the state level.
The party leaders in panchayat, municipal and ward levels will be in charge on this move. BJP intends to ensure maximum representation for the party in local body polls which is considered as a rehearsal to the assembly election.
The state leadership took this decision with the permission of the national leaders. Party sources said that they intend to make alliance with parties other than Congress, CPM, Muslim League, Welfare Party and PDP in ward level.
Apart from this, they will cooperate with various community organisations in this. BJP will support the leaders of community organisations who wants to contest independently. Discussions in this regard will be held with Christian community organisations also. All these will be held in local level only.
BJP will conduct party workshop on panchayat ward level from July 15 to 30 for giving guidelines to the local leaders regarding the local allies. Only very few leaders will attend the workshops adhering to COVID protocols. Party state president will take part in the workshops in panchayat level. State unit office-bearers will participate in ward levels.
