Angadipuram: Little Imran Mohammed bid adieu to the world without waiting for the medicine worth 18 crores that would have cured his condition. He passed away at 11:30 on Tuesday night at Kozhikode Medical College. An amount of 16.5 crores was collected for his treatment. It is stated that infection is the reason for his death.

Six-month-old Imran, the son of Valamboor natives Arif and Rameesa Thasni, was suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy and was undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College for almost three months.

Imran started showing symptoms 17 days after his birth. Imran’s parents have been on an endless struggle since then, rushing to hospitals one after another, trying to save the life of their child. He was taken to Kozhikode Medical College after treatment at Perinthalmanna Moulana Hospital and Kozhikode MIMS hospital.

The medicine that costs around 18 crores had to be imported from abroad. Mankada MLA Manjalamkuzhi Ali had formed a monetary help committee for helping Imran. Almost 16.5 crores were collected owing to the kind hearts of Malayalis all around the world. Imran’s family and the committee were hopeful that they would be able to make the remaining amount of 1.5 crores.
