Liquor worth Rs 117 crore sold on Uthradam day; Kollam outlet witnesses record sales

Thiruvananthapuram: Liquor sales set a new record on Uthradam day, a day before Thiruvonam. Liquor worth Rs 117 crores was sold solely on Wednesday in Kerala.

Maximum quantity of liquor was sold at an outlet at Asramam in Kollam. Rs 1.6 crore worth liquor was sold from here.

A liquor outlet at Power house road in Thiruvananthapuram sold liquor worth Rs 1.2 crore on Uthradam day.

Liquor for only Rs 85 crore was sold on Uthradam last year. Meanwhile, Rs 624 crore was obtained in the last week from the BEVCO outlets in state. The government obtained Rs 550 crore as tax through liquor sales during the last seven days.
