Liquor bottles to be collected to curb pollution
Alappuzha: The state Pollution Control Board is planning to curb pollution caused by littering of liquor bottles made of glass. The used bottles will be taken by the board between rate of Re 1 and Rs 5.
The programme is set to be implemented with the help of Beverages Corporation and Liquour companies. The decision regarding this was taken at a meeting convened by the Chief Secretary on the 30th of last month.
Kudumbashree will be handed over the responsibility of collecting bottles. The consumer will either be charged for the bottle at the time of purchase or the charge will be equally shared between the consumer and the company. If neither of these works out, the Beverages Corporation will take the responsibility of the bottles.
The collected bottles will be given to factories from other states for reuse. Plastic bottles will also be collected under this project.
