Kasaragod: Even though patients and staff at Kasaragod General Hospital have been dealing with a malfunctioning elevator for over a week, the situation took a turn for the worse when a lift operator, who was assigned to repair it, became trapped inside for over an hour.

The incident took place on Monday at the seven-storey building of the hospital. In addition, the absence of ramp facilities at the hospital also added to the woes of bedridden patients.

Currently, the patients, who face difficulty in walking, are brought to the ward or room with the help of the staffers and bystanders. Patients are also forced to climb the stairs two or three times a day to buy food from the hospital canteen.
