Kasaragod: A person discharged from Government General Hospital here on Sunday was carried downstairs from the sixth floor by headload workers, putting the spotlight on the hospital’s poor infrastructure facilities. It is alleged that the laxity of the authority concerned has left patients and bystanders in the lurch.

According to reports, the sole lift in the hospital capable of carrying the stretcher has been dysfunctional for a month. The person reportedly was supposed to be discharged from the hospital four days ago. His wife had no other option than to seek the help of headload workers to get him out of the hospital.

Similarly, there is no ramp facility on the top floors. As a result, bedridden persons, pregnant women and senior citizens have a tough time.

Meanwhile, MLA NA Nellikkunnu accused the hospital superintendent of not intimating issues related to the hospital.
