Kochi: M Sivasankar, former private secretary of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in the Life Mission case.
Last month, ED issued a notice to Sivasankar directing him to appear for interrogation in connection with the alleged irregularities in foreign aid received for LIFE Mission housing project. However, he cited inconvenience to appear for questioning since the date fixed by ED was the day of his retirement from office as Principal Secretary of the Sports and Youth Department. Therefore, ED decided to postpone the questioning until February.
On Monday morning, Sivasankar appeared before the ED's office in Kochi. ED suspects that Rs 1 crore found in a locker owned by Swapna Suresh was the bribe received by Sivasankar in connection with Life Project.
Earlier, the agency had recorded the statements of Swapna Suresh, Sarith and Unitac owner Santhosh Eapen in the case. They alleged that Sivasankar intervened to get the Life Mission contract for Unitac.
