Life Mission: Over 4 lakh families in final beneficiary list

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has released the final list of beneficiaries for the Life Mission housing scheme. MV Govindan minister for local-self government and excise informed that the final list was released after getting the approval of the local self-government authorities.

He added that the list was prepared after detailed examinations in various levels and two phases of appeal. The list was also discussed in grama/ward sabhas and renewed.

The beneficiary list of 863 local self-governments has been published on Tuesday. Grama/ward sabhas were not conducted under some local bodies due to issues including rain furry.

As per the official data, 151 panchayats, 19 municipalities and one corporation are not completed the procedures of Life Mission yet.

A complete list of the beneficiaries under the scheme will be ready once these local bodies complete the procedures. The minister asked these local bodies to complete the formalities and submit the list immediately.

A total of 4,62,611 families under 863 local-self governments will get a new house under the Life Mission project. Among these beneficiaries, 3,11,133 people are found homeless and 1,57,478 are landless.

A total of 94,937 beneficiaries from the SC community and 14,606 from the ST community.

Interestingly, all local bodies in Kollam, Idukki, Wayanad and Kozhikode completed the procedures of the Life Mission project.
