Thiruvananthapuram: The vigilance investigation into the Wadakanchery LIFE Mission project irregularities had revealed the role of former Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister M Sivasankar, according to reports. Sivasankar was allegedly looking for a commission.
However, the vigilance action ended as they did not receive a positive response from the government for further investigation. The investigation subsided with the transfer of the SP who led the probe and the DYSP who conducted the investigation.
Allegations had surfaced that the government hastily ordered a preliminary investigation into the LIFE Mission case with the intention to seize files related to the matter before the CBI began investigation. The vigilance had seized files from the LIFE Mission office and the local self-government department in the secretariat.
The documents were submitted to the court after registering the case.
The officials reportedly confirmed that he received the commission amount after checking the bank transactions. Then, the officer who was handling the financial affairs at the UAE Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram had to be questioned. However, the probe came to a standstill as central government approval was required to go to UAE to question the official.
The information found in the vigilance probe was conveyed in court by the ED.
