NewDelhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has stated that M Sivasankar, former Principal Secretary of CM Pinarayi Vijayan, who is in jail for being part of the Life Mission scam, is not facing any health issues at present. However, taking stock of the situation, the Supreme Court has allowed him to approach a special court, for seeking interim bail, incase of any medical emergency. Sivasankar’s plea for permanent bail in the case will be considered by the apex court only in the month of July, post the summer holidays.
ED opposed the demand put forth by Sivasankar’s advocate to allow permanent bail in the case, citing medical reasons. In defense, the ED’s advocate pointed out that Sivasankar has not undergone any relevant medical treatment ever since he rejoined service post his suspension. The SC has allowed the ED to file a counter affidavit against the bail application of the controversial IAS officer.
Senior advocate Jaideep Gupta, advocates Selvin Raju and Manu Srinath appeared in the SC for the former Principal Secretary of Kerala CM.
