Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday filed a chargesheet against M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in connection with the alleged violation of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act in the LIFE Mission project. The chargesheet has been submitted before a special court here.

The move comes as a procedural formality as April 15 will mark 60 days of his arrest in the case. According to section 167 of CrPC, an accused will be entitled to bail by default, if the probing authority fails to file chargesheet within 60 days from the date of remand.

Meanwhile, ED in the chargesheet has claimed that Sivasankar is the person who received the bribe and he has parked the amount in the bank account of another accused Swapna Suresh. Similarly, the central agency informed the court that the procedures against other accused in the pipeline.
