Kochi: The Central Bureau of Investigation issued notice to Swapna Suresh to appear before the agency in Kochi regarding the Life Mission case. Another accused Sarith had been questioned earlier regarding the case.

Swapna was directed to be present at the CBI office on Monday morning. The investigation over the Life Mission case has been stalled even after several persons, including UV Jose, approached the High Court. Later, CBI directly requested the High Court to obtain permission for probing the case. The central investigation agency will be questioning Swapna for the first time in relation to the Life Mission case.

CBI had recorded the statements of many, including UV Jose. Unitac managing director Santhosh Eapan was recently added as an accused in the case.

Swapna was expelled from HRDS citing recurrent probes and questioning which thereby hinders the functioning of the firm. She was appointed as the Corporate Social Responsibility director in HRDS in February 2022. The CPM leaders had accused that the HRDS was behind the allegations raised by Swapna against the CM following her appointment here. HRDS had even extended legal support to Swapna then.
