Thiruvananthapuram: MP and Congress leader K Muraleedharan has slammed the state government for attributing SilverLine protests to Liberation Struggle and labelling the protestors as terrorists.
“What is the need for a Liberation Struggle in the present situation?. Congress also rejected the Liberation Struggle in its later stage. Another claim is that terrorist outfits are involved in the protest (SilverLine protests). Who are terrorists? Whether those who vote for LDF last time are terrorists? Some protestors have voted for LDF,” he said.
Muraleedharan claimed that people are totally against the SilverLine project itself. To corroborate this, he said that protests against the National Highway development project and the GAIL project were only over the alignment. He added that local protests over alignment can be resolved through discussion.
“However this is different(SliverLine protests). People are against the project itself,” he pointed out.
He added that SilverLine protests are led by people and not UDF. He also alleged that the government itself has no idea about the Detailed Project Report of the project.
“People are protesting. Now we(UDF) are just supporting them. These all are a natural response of the public. Why can’t CM understand that?” he asked.
Muraleedharan alleged that the government had taken a similar stand over the Sabarimala issue.
