Mayyil (Kannur): It has been one-and-a -half years since KSRTC stopped services in five routes in the remote areas of Kannur.
KSRTC stopped services in Varamkadavu-Kampil-Parassinikkadavu-Taliparambu, Sreekantapuram-Mayyil Village Office-Perumacheri-Kannur, Kannur Kudukkimotta-Mayyil Chalodu and Koodali-Komakari-Kannur routes.
The locals said that these services were profitable before Covid. The delay in resuming services adversely affects students, workers and patients.
K Bhaskaran, a construction worker in Pullooppi, said that the bus running in the Varamkadavu-Kampil-Parassinikkadavu route had good revenue.
"It is very difficult for us as there are no buses operational in Mayyil Karyamparamba to Kudukkimotta, village office route , said M V Mohanan, a shopkeeper. To the woes, the pathetic condition of the road makes even autorickshaw services unavaibale in this route, he added.
The locals here have given requests to the MP K Sudhakaran, MLAs Ramachandran Kadannappally and KV Sumesh. Also, the DYFI Kannadiparamba east local committee members have submitted a request by collecting signatures.
