Thiruvananthapuram: The ombudsman of local bodies on Tuesday sent notices to Mayor Arya Rajendran and Secretary of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation over allegations regarding the letter controversy.
As per the notice, they have been directed to submit their written reply before November 20. They have also been asked to appear for an online sitting on December 2.
The notice was ordered by Justice PS Gopinathan, the Ombudsman, on a complaint filed by Youth Congress leader Sudheer Shah stating that the mayor violated oath of office.
Meanwhile, the police are likely to register a case in connection with the letter controversy in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. A decision in the regard will be taken on the basis of the Crime Branch (CB) report.
The CB chief, who is currently on leave, will return on Friday. Following which, the report will be handed over to the DGP. The investigation is likely to be conducted by the CB itself.
