Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch (CB) on Saturday seized five hard disks, including one from the office of Mayor Arya Rajendran, in connection with the probe into the appointment row in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation.
The CB team has also taken the mobile phone of CPM leader and ex-standing committee chairman DR Anil into custody. The probe team is expecting to find the origin of the controversial letter through the hard disks.
Apparently, the CB team did not carry out any significant investigation into the appointment letter row til the other day. The probe came to a standstill since the statements of Mayor Arya Rajendran and DR Anil were recorded earlier.
However, the investigation sped up after the CPM decided to remove councillor DR Anil as the chairman of the public works standing committee, the other day.
The row began after a letter allegedly written by Mayor Arya Rajendran addressed to CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan regarding the appointment of party cadres to temporary posts in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation.
