Palakkad: The leopard that was found inside a chicken cage in Mannarkkad has died. The leopard’s hand was caught in the iron net of the cage. Primary assumption is that the leopard could have suffered heart attack by staying in this condition for a long time.
The leopard was taken out by cutting the iron net. The hand that was caught in the net is severely injured. The leopard suffered injuries on its lips too. The forest department has started further proceedings in the matter.
The leopard was trapped inside the cage for around six hours. Forest officials have planned to tranquilise the leopard and transfer it out of the spot. But before that the cat died. Proceedings for conducting the postmortem will begin soon.
The leopard was trapped in a cage at the house of Kottopadam native Philip. He found the leopard when he checked the cage after hearing the cries of the chicken.
