Palakkad: A leopard got trapped in a chicken cage in Mannarkkad in the wee hours of Sunday. The leopard was trapped in a cage at the house of Kottopadam native Philip. He found the leopard when he checked the cage after hearing the cries of the chicken. The leopard’s hand was caught in the iron net of the cage.
Police and the forest department reached the spot. Veterinary surgeon Dr Arun Zachariah will be brought to tranquillise the leopard. A cage to transfer the leopard after it is tranquilised has been brought to the spot.
The leopard was found at around 3 am on Sunday. A presence of leopard was reported in the area earlier too.
