Legal notice against Arnab for humiliating Malayalees; Demands Rs 10 cr compensation

Kochi: A legal notice was issued against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami for humiliating Malayalees in times of the flood havoc through a channel discussion. The notice sent by CPM leader P Sasi stated that Arnab's discussion had intended to divide the society and propogate violence and belittle the Malayalees. For this reason, he is liable to seek pardon and in compensation, has to donate Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.

“This group is shameless, is the most shameless bunch of Indians I have ever seen, they have gone around spreading the lie religiously. I don’t know what they get for it. Whether they get paid for it? Do they get paid money for abusing their own country? Are they part of a group who are they funded by? Point is it is a conspiracy to malign India,” Arnab had alleged during the discussion.

Arnab's comments were not clinical criticism as a journalist, Sasi said in the notice. As a Malayali I was also humiliated. That’s why the petition is given on defamation, he added.

"Arnab has to seek pardon with the same significance as that of the discussion broadcasted in the channel. If fail to do so, I will move forward with legal actions," said Sasi.

Sasi has filed the petition as the president of Peoples Law Foundation.
