LDF won LSG polls through bogus voting: Chennithala
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged serious irregularities in postal voting along with the voters’ list. He raised the fresh allegation after the Kerala High Court issued an interim order on his plea against double votes.
Addressing the media here on Monday, Chennithala also alleged that LDF won the Local Self-Government election through irregularities in the voters’ list and bogus voting.
“The election commission has carried out a preliminary investigation over double votes and found my statement to be true. I have also filed a complaint with the central election commission along with the MPs. AICC representatives also visited the Election Commission of India. The double votes are part of the conspiracy of CPM to cast bogus votes in the assembly polls,” he added.
“This assembly election, postal voting facility is provided for people above 80 years and those who are differently-abled. Serious fraudulence is committed over the postal voting. Even deceased people and those who didn’t file an affidavit for postal vote are included in the list for postal ballot. In Thiruvananthapuram central, names of 10 deceased people are added to the list of the postal vote. VS Sivakumar has filed a complaint with the election commission regarding this,” said Chennithala.
He also criticised the lapses in collecting the postal ballots and the security provided.
“Postal votes are not collected on sealed ballot boxes and kept on strong rooms. In most of the places, the postal ballots are kept at places where CCTV is not installed,” added Chennithala.
At the same time, the opposition leader slammed the police association for influencing the police officials on voting.
“The police officials are asked to click photo of their vote on the mobile phone and send to the office-bearers of the police association. I have informed this matter to the DGP,” added Ramesh Chennithala.
