Thiruvananthapuram: The two leading political fronts in Kerala, LDF and UDF are planning to intensify protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) but separately.
Both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) are planning to observe on January 26, 2020 as constitution day.
LDF has announced a human chain protest from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram on January 26. The left front is also planning more protests in the coming days, it is learned.
The United Democratic Front (UDF) has planned elaborate protests against CAA. Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala said that the Citizenship Amendment Act is against the nation’s interests and the Congress will continue to hold protests until its revoked. He added that the UDF will take on the act legally and politically.
The UDF will organise a secular gathering in all constituencies in the state on December 23 raising the slogan ‘Save Constitution, Save Republic’. Secular gatherings will be held at Ernakulam on January 6 and at Kozhikode on January 7.
Meanwhile, there are reports of dissent within the UDF over joining hands with LDF to protest against the Act. RSP had not taken part in the joint protest on Monday. KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran had also given a miss to the protest.
