Kochi: The Kochi Corporation will be administered by the LDF for the next 5 years after the recent local body election. This has been confirmed as one more UDF rebel candidate who one from here declared support to the Left.
Congress rebel Sanil Mon on Saturday declared that he will support the LDF. TK Ashraf, a Muslim League rebel, had announced the other day that he will support LDF.
Sanil extended support to LDF without any conditions. For a sustainable administration, I will extend support to LDF, he responded. Sanil had won from ward 8, Panayappilly as an independent defeating Congress candidate AS Yesudas.
Out of the 74 seats in the Kochi Corporation, LDF won 34 seats and UDF 31. Four rebel candidates and 5 NDA candidates also won.
The stance of NDA candidates will be crucial as they can’t openly declare support to any front. As BJP is to keep away, LDF and UDF are trying to earn 35 seats on their side of the 69.
CPM has decided to appoint district committee member M Anil Kumar as the mayor. If CPI makes a claim for deputy mayor post it will be given. As UDF has 31 members, two permanent committee chairman posts will have to be given to them.
