LDF organises massive human chain across Kerala against CAA on Republic Day
Thiruvananthapuram: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) organised a human chain against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) across the length of Kerala from Kasaragod to Kaliyakkavilai near here on Sunday.
Thousands of people from various walks of life cutting across ages took part in the human chain at different areas across the state. Eminent personalities, celebrities, social and cultural activists were among those part of the human chain.
Around 70 lakh took part in the human chain, which was formed on the right hand side of the road. The organisers claimed that people belonging to political parties outside LDF also took part in the human chain.
S. Ramachandran Pillai at Kasaragod was the first link of the 620-km-long human chain while M. A. Baby was the last at Kaliyakkavilai. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI Kerala state secretary Kanam Rajendran took part in the protest at Palayam here.
The participants took a pledge to safeguard the constitution at 4 pm following which meetings were held at various locations.
