LDF demands quashing CBI probe in Life Mission to protect CM, alleges Chennithala
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala, on Saturday, alleged that LDF’s demand to withdraw CBI from probing the Life Mission project deal was to protect the Chief Minster. Speaking to media here Chennithala alleged that the whole scam in Wadakkancherry Life Mission project was with the full support and cooperation from CM.
“The contract was signed in CM’s presence. As the probe is progressing, LDF fears that it will catch up with CM. Demanding the withdrawal of CBI from probing, is to conceal the corruption,” he added.
Responding on LDF’s remarks that CBI was withdrawn from several probes in other states, Chennithala said that those were politically motivated cases and in Kerala the case relates to corruption.
The Congress leader also pointed out that it was CM himself who wrote to Prime Minister for central agency probe in gold smuggling case. It was after receiving the letter Centre send Enforcement Directorate, Customs and CBI to probe the case. But as the probing is gradually moving towards CM, CPM is worried and CPI is acting on orders from them, he added.
CPM taking a stance that corruption cases need not be probed is suicidal. LDF has become an alliance that supports anyone corrupt. Public will react to this. They tried a Vigilance probe to hinder the CBI probe. Files were seized at night and tried to block CBI from proceeding with the probe, Chennithala alleged.
He also requested the state government to withdraw from protecting corrupt persons.
