Kochi: Former Defence Minister AK Antony on Friday said that INS Vikrant is a pride of the nation and an ideal weapon for India to confront challenges faced on sea. Veteran Congress leaders also pointed out that the launch of the aircraft carrier came at a time when China's expansion policies had proven to be a threat to India.
"This is a happy and proud moment for India. We now have two aircraft carriers. We should be ready to make a third one," he said.
Antony also praised and congratulated the efforts taken by engineers and staff of Cochin Shipyard in the construction of INS Vikrant despite facing several hurdles.
Antony also stated that it is vital for the country to dominate on the sea just as it does on the land border due to the increased presence of China in the area.
