Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan here on Friday dismissed the allegations raised by the opposition leader VD Satheesan over CPM's role in COVID-19 spike. Satheesan had alleged that the CPM party conferences were the reason for the surge in covid-19 cases in the state.
“The state government has fixed the category wise COVID-19 guidelines. The CPM has not commented on it. CPM would never want the party members to get sick,” he said.
Further, he asked the opposition leader whether actor Mammootty and others have contracted the virus by participating in the
CPM district conference. He pointed out that the CPM conventions were held abiding by the Covid-19 protocol.
Many events related to the conference were cancelled. No events were held in public places, he added.
He said that the event is being held in the halls with the permission of the collectors. He expressed hope that the pandemic will be under control before the state conference.
