Thiruvananthapuram: Large scale examination fraud has been reported from Kerala University here.
Additional moderation was given to students correcting the original marks they had scored in 16 examinations. Hundreds of students have benefitted from the fraud and managed to pass several examinations, it is learned.
Alarmingly, the examination fraud has taken place inside the university without the knowledge of university officials.
Passwords used by university officials were misused to log into computers used by them following which marks allotted to students were changed. The additional marks were given on top of the moderation given by the university.
The incidents were so bizarre that several students who went to apply for supplementary tests were shocked to know that they had passed the examination for which they were about apply for supplementary test.
Earlier, the university had suspended its deputy registrar A. R. Renuka for correcting marks in two examinations. However, new developments have revealed that the incident was only a tip of the iceberg.
