Kozhikode: Even when the number of COVID patients are increasing in the state, large number of people gather at public functions, a cause of concern for everyone. Along with political parties, government machineries are also organising such functions.

Large number of people gathered without adhering to COVID norms for Ramesh Chennithala’s ‘Aiswarya Kerala Yatra’. The UDF's Kerala tour is intended to motivate the party cadre ahead of the Assembly election. The functions organised by ministers, in response to this, also have similar if not bigger turnouts. The public take part in these functions without wearing proper masks and by violating COVID protocols.

Police filed cases against 400 Congress leaders and cadre for violating COVID norms while taking part in ‘Aiswarya Kerala Yatra’ the other day. Allegations have been made that this was politically motivated. The Opposition asked why no such action was taken against the functions organised by government authorities.

There was huge gathering at Thiruvananthapuram to welcome BJP National President, JP Nadda on Wednesday. He will attend events in Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram in coming days. LDF is planning to planning to organise two rallies in the state. Health workers believe that all these will affect the COVID prevention works in the state.
