Large aircraft service to resume at Karipur airport once runway development is complete: CM Pinarayi

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister M V Govindan who spoke on behalf of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during the Assembly session said that with the completion of the runway development, large aircraft can be landed at Karipur airport.

The land acquisition process of a total of 14.5 acres of land is progressing quickly. With the accident that happened in August 2020, large aircraft were restricted from landing at this airport. The decision on resuming the service of large aircraft will be taken based on the report by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) that was assigned to look into the accident.

It was also informed that the government has requested the prime minister and the airport authority to call off the ban imposed on landing large aircraft.
