Landslides hit several places in Malabar; Munnar, Wayanad isolated

The northern districts and Idukki experienced widespread crop and property loss in the heavy rains that lashed the area. Several areas in Wayanad district are isolated.

Landslides occurred in the hilly regions of Malappuram, Kannur and Kozhikode. Munnar town is getting isolated due to the waterlogged roads.

The authorities have decided to raise the shutters of Banasura Sagar Dam in Wayanad by 210 cm. Landslides occurred again in Makkimala in Wayanad. The search for a person who went missing in the waters at Kambippalam near Thalappuzha is continuing. Landslides occurred at two places in Thamarassery ghat road. With this, the traffic to Wayanad was completely disrupted.

Vehicles are being diverted from Eengappuzha.due to waterlogging. According to reports, landslides are occurring frequently in the forest regions of Kozhikode district. Iruvanji and Kuttiadi rivers are overflowing.

The raising of shutters of Malampuzha dam and the opening of other dams in Palakkad district resulted in the flooding of several places. The shutters of Malampuzha dam were raised to 60 cm by afternoon. If the rains increase, the shutters will be increased 10 cm more.

Landslides occurred again at Chappamala in Kottiyoor. The vazhipadu counter of Kottiyoor temple was destroyed in the rains. Bavali river and Cheenkanni rivers are overflowing. The Chaliyar and Kadalundi rivers which flows through Malappuram and Kozhikode districts are also overflowing.
