Row over land transfer at Adimaly panchayat meet

Adimaly panchayat -TU Kuruvilla

Adimaly: Former CPM minister TU Kuruvilla is mulling to move legally over acquisition of excess land by the Adimaly panchayat. He had offered land to the panchayat long back but unfortunately more land was taken over.

The LDF administration which ruled the panchayat had decided to return the excess 18.5 cent in the wake of Kuruvila’s request but the present UDF administration objected to this.

In 1988, Kuruvilla offered 1.5 acres of land for construction of a bus stand. When he measured the plot in 2020, he realized that panchayat had acquired 18.5 cents more. Kuruvilla raised a request with the LDF administration in March 2022. The administration decided to return the excess land but the UDF members objected saying it was neither included in the agenda nor deliberated in the meeting. The panchayat committee meeting held on July 22 was deciding to revoke the plan.

Meanwhile, Kuruvilla affirmed that all necessary documents relating to the excess land is under his possession. “I will move legally if the excess land is not returned,” he pointed out
