Kasaragod: The lab result of the drinking water supplied at the government college in Kasaragod revealed the presence of E-coli bacteria.

Earlier, the students staged a protest alleging that drinking water in the institute was contaminated. Following this, the water samples were collected and sent for testing. The lab result revealed that the water was contaminated. The report, prepared by the water authority, has also revealed the presence of E-coli bacteria.

The former principal of the college, M Rama, had claimed that the water supplied at the college was clean and that she had examined it. The water authority report, however, states that the water is contaminated and contains harmful elements, including E-coli bacteria.

Protests have been organised in the college since February 20 regarding the same. The issue at the college worsened after the former principal locked the students in her chamber. A section of students refused to leave the chamber until the principal had taken appropriate measures to manage the situation. She allegedly locked them up and went outside. Following this, she was removed from the post of principal.
