Kochi: Moovattupuzha Urban Bank president and CPM state committee member Gopi Kottamurikkal justified the action of attaching the house of four children living there with their heart patient father.

He said the action was taken based on a court order. However, I immediately ordered to return the keys when I learned the father of the children was in hospital. The officers did not go back fearing protests. The key was handed over to the police on my direction, he said.

What happened there on Saturday was politically motivated. MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan knows me personally. He could have called me and explained the matter so that it could be amicably settled. But he decided to take the issue to another level.

Kids were not thrown out of the house. No one told the officers about their father's situation, he added.

The Urban Bank on Saturday attached the house of a Dalit family leaving four children, including three girls, on the road. Their father was admitted to the hospital due to heart-related issues. Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA broke the door lock to take the children inside. Ajeesh, house owner, could not repay the loan of Rs 1 lakh as he had frequent heart attacks.
