Malappuram: An unofficial meeting of Muslim League will be held in Malappuram today after Mueen Ali Shihab Thangal’s, National Vice-President of Muslim Youth League, controversial remarks at a press conference on Thursday led the party into a political turmoil. The leaders of Muslim League will hold discussions on the issue and action to be taken against Mueen Ali Thangal. His remarks had landed the party in quagmire earlier too. Official Muslim League leadership meeting will be held on Saturday.
The remarks of Mueen Ali Thangal indeed backed the allegations raised by KT Jaleel, MLA from Thavanur constituency. After Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal received a notice from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Jaleel alleged that Kunhalikutty is the real culprit. Jaleel demanded that the ED notice must be issued to Kunhalikutty by revoking the notice against Thangal. He also wanted ED to probe alleged deposits of Kunhalikutty's son in a cooperative bank in Malappuram.
Soon after the incident, Kunhalikutty rushed to Malappuram and held talks with various party leaders. MK Muneer, KPA Majeed and other leaders of the party are in various places. It is not clear how many of its leaders would attend the meeting. The statement of Mueen Ali Shihab Thangal irked party members and there is an uproar against him. It caused a good damage to the party. Kunhalikutty and Muslim League have to sweat a lot to come out of the disgrace it caused.
