Kummanam likely to contest Vattiyoorkavu bypolls: Reports
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP veteran leader Kummanam Rajasekharan is likely to contest from Vattiyoorkavu constituency, it is hinted. The district leadership of the party is of the opinion that Kummanam should be the candidate in Vattiyoorkavu and they have already requested Kummanam to contest the polls, as per reports.
Earlier, it was heard that Kummanam and RSS leadership were not interested about his candidature in Vattiyoorkkavu. But the district secretary visited Kummanam in person on Saturday and requested him in this regard. Following this, Kummanam addressed the media and made it clear that he will act according to the party leadership’s decision.
BJP core committee meeting will be convened in Kochi on Sunday. BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai said he would inform the core committee that the district committee has suggested the name of Kummanam.
Other names will be considered for candidature only if Kummanam declines to contest the polls. District president S. Suresh and state executive committee member V. V. Rajesh are under consideration after Kummanam.
