Kumarakom: In a bizarre incident, a gang of miscreants hurled stones at the house of a police officer of Kottayam railway station. Cheppunikara native Shaji’s house was attacked by some anonymous persons.

The offenders smashed the window panes and doors, demolished the toilet and defecated in front of the house. Before leaving, they wrote ‘Minnal Murali (Original)’ on the wall. Shaji’s family including his wife and three daughters are currently living in a house in Vechoor.

Last night, police had driven away a gang of men who were drinking alcohol in front of the house. This might have provoked them and ended up in the attack. Kumarakom SI Suresh said that the bikes of the miscreants were spotted at the site of attack and they will be nabbed soon.

The locals complained that the anti-socials are roaming freely in the region and such attacks are usual here. After a Mumbai native person bought the lands for building a resort, many of the houses were demolished. Following this, the place is almost evacuated and the presence of anti-socials makes it difficult to live here.
