Kudumbashree records sales of Rs 20 cr this Onam
Kochi : The Kudumbashree units garnered a whopping Rs 19.88 crore from sales through Onam markets. The markets were set up on panchayat and municipality levels.
In Panchayats, sales witnessed an increase of up to Rs 16.01 crore and in municipality, it was Rs 3.87 crore. In 2017, the sales was Rs 27.87 crore but in the next year it dropped to just Rs 3 crore. This year Kudumbashree aimed for Rs 15 to Rs 20 crore through the Onam markets.
Kudumbashree State Mission programme officer said they have attained the expected profits and received positive feedback for their efforts. The Onam markets were launched with a focus on boosting regional products and sales outlets. The sales were administered according to the green protocol without causing any environmental concern.
Ernakulam records highest sale
Ernakulam witnessed highest sales of Rs 8.73 crores as more number of Onam markets were organised in the district. A total of 1015 onam markets were launched across the state by the Kudambashree unit. 27413 Kudumbashree units participated in this year’s Onam fair.
